Alex Ammon | Minturn Anglers Fly Fishing Guide Profile

Alex Night Brown

I’m a native of this great state, born and raised in Golden, CO. I was first introduced to fly fishing as a child by my oldest brother in Eleven Mile Canyon. I haven’t set down my rod since that day. My passion for fly fishing continued to grow with every family fishing trip and every new river I got to explore. Before I knew it I was obsessed and I don’t see myself losing that feeling for a long time.

Why I Love Guiding

After my brother passed his knowledge of fly fishing onto me, I couldn’t help but return the favor. Even though I enjoy the escape of getting out on the water by myself, it’s always special to share it with someone else. Whether its their first fish or their 1000th fish its always fun to join in the experience. Everyone that is willing to learn, I’m willing to teach. From casting to entomology to fly tying, I like to talk about it all because there is always a great chance I end up learning something new that will help me next time out on the water.

Where I Like To FishGunnison Fall

Being from Golden, I have fished Clear Creek and Bear Creek more times than I can count. I know both those rivers like the back of my hand and they will always be one of my favorite places to spend a day getting the line wet. Other than that, I like to fish any and every piece of water in and around Colorado, Wyoming, Utah, and Montana. However, If I had to pick one place in Colorado to fish, it would have to be in Gunnison County. I spent my first year of college at Western State spending pretty much every day exploring those waters, and have had some of my best days with a rod there.

I’m always looking for new people to fish with. If you would like to book a trip with me, call the shop and ask for me. I look forward to seeing you on the water.

It’s time to nail down your 2024 fly fishing trip with Minturn Anglers.
