Step one in becoming a fly fishing guide is to enroll in our 3 day wade guide training classes. Minturn Anglers is always in search of that passionate fly fisherman and thats where it starts. If you have experience and have a knowledge base of our local rivers and are curious about becoming a fly fishing guide then this program is perfect for you. This class with dig deep into knots, entomology, casting, safety, communication, taking client photos, how to read water, rigging, hydrology and drifts, etiquette, stewardship and hooking, playing, netting and releasing fish in a safe environment.

The last day of class will be dedicated to guiding our guides. Once they give you the green light to move forward you will then be placed on 2-4 group trips with senior guides, showing them your skills while interacting with actual clients. Once the senior team signs off on this you will be put into the Minturn Anglers guide rotation immediately.

Current First Aid and CPR are required.

*Wade Guide Schools are held annually in May for one week, subject to river flows.  For individual classes please inquire at 970-827-9500
