South Platte

The South Platte River, for us at Minturn Anglers and for many on the Denver Front Range, is our home water. Our guides and shop staff have spent countless hours exploring the river from it’s headwaters high in the Rockies to where the river meets the plains in Denver. No matter whether you are looking for small streams full of fish eating dry flies or tailwaters that hold trophy trout the South Platte has something to fit the bill.

River Access

Public fishing access on the South Platte River is abundant, with many well-maintained stretches of river for anglers. The Colorado Parks and Wildlife, in partnership with local stakeholders, has strategically placed fishing easements, parks, and campgrounds along the river. These access points cater to diverse preferences, whether anglers seek the tranquility of the upper reaches or the convenience of locations near urban centers like Denver. These sites are equipped with amenities such as parking and picnic areas, enhancing the overall fishing experience. This network not only facilitates recreational enjoyment but also aligns with conservation efforts, emphasizing responsible angling practices and environmental stewardship.
